Position Summary:

The Network Administrator II has the primary responsibility of data backup and disaster recovery.  The position will also support a Microsoft Windows TCP/IP network to ensure maximum reliability, performance, and security.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide data backup and disaster recovery support for the organization
  • Create and maintain disaster recovery process and procedure documentation
  • Maintain and optimize primary datacenter physical topology, including hardware racking and cable management
  • Maintain and troubleshoot datacenter hardware, including servers, SAN, routers, switches, and KVMs
  • Responsible for RMA of failed datacenter equipment
  • Maintain datacenter server, switch, and router firmware updates
  • Administer network switches and routers
  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network infrastructure
  • Create and maintain network diagrams
  • Assist with PBX administration
  • Manage and maintain SNMP on network nodes
  • Administer Windows print services and provide tier-two support for desktop clients
  • Administer Blackberry Enterprise server and hand-held devices
  • Administer enterprise antivirus software
  • Administer security surveillance and environmental monitoring systems
  • Primary contact for HVAC, UPS, and other datacenter systems
  • Keep abreast of current network security best practices
  • Manage service requests via online ticket tracking system
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor other IT staff as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Information Services/Technology, Computer Science or related field or 4 years of previous equivalent work experience may be substituted for degree
  • 4 years supporting a Microsoft Windows server environment
  • 2 years supporting an enterprise backup solution
  • 2 years supporting an enterprise network
  • Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, including Windows Server 2003 and 2008, XP, and Windows 7
  • Strong hardware and software installation and troubleshooting skills for servers
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and other core networking protocols
  • Strong working knowledge of Active Directory domains, users and groups
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment (weighing up to 30 pounds)
  • Must be able to provide after hours, on call support
  • Some travel required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Industry technical certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Basic understanding of network packet capture tools such as Wireshark and Tcpdump
  • Basic knowledge of virtual private network technologies
  • Basic knowledge of VMware ESXi/ESX
  • Basic understanding of SAN technologies
  • Familiarity with intrusion detection systems such as Snort
  • Basic knowledge of Linux and/or Mac operating systems
  • Excellent interpersonal/teamwork skills for effective collaboration
  • Excellent customer service and customer awareness
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with an attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated and disciplined
  • Ability to self-manage workload and work independently within a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write concise, accurate and readable technical documentation and reports
  • Spanish language skills a plus

This is a full-time position, and it is Non-Exempt from state and federal overtime regulations.
Employment authorization is required.
Travel/relocation expenses will not be provided for this position.
