The Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial (SELECT) is a research study to determine if selenium and vitamin E can help prevent prostate cancer. SELECT is funded by the National Cancer Institute and coordinated by the Southwest Oncology Group.

For giving hope to millions of men, their sons, and their grandsons who wish for a future without prostate cancer, SELECT would like to thank all participants and family members of participants for your involvement in this important study and we look forward to working together with you in the coming years!

As of June 24, 2004 SELECT closed to accrual. Over 35,000 men, from a variety of ethnic groups, including 14% African American, 5% Hispanic, 1% Hispanic African American, and 1% Asian, from over 400 Study Sites in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada are participating in SELECT.

The purpose of the SELECT website is to provide participants and their family members with information about the study and the many people and organizations who support it. Some of the highlights of this site include a description of the “National Participant Advisory Board”. Another highlight of this site is the list of SELECT Study Sites by state, along with contact information for each site for those participants that are relocating or transferring to another site. Be sure to tell your study site if you are relocating and they will assist you with the transfer. We invite you to take the time to familiarize yourself with this website and explore its many features!
