SELECT National Participant Advisory Board

The SELECT National Participant Advisory Board (NPAB) is made up of 10 men from a variety of study sites in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico who participate in SELECT. This Board was activated in July 2003. These 10 participants were chosen to be a member of the NPAB because of their support and dedication to the prevention of prostate cancer and for their individual business and personal backgrounds.

Mission Statement

The members of the National Participant Advisory Board (NPAB) have been chosen to represent more than 32,000 men across North America who are voluntary participants in SELECT, a prostate cancer prevention trial sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Our mission is to make recommendations, assist and advise SELECT through review and suggested revision of procedures and materials that promote participant adherence and ensure the satisfactory completion of this important clinical trial.

How to Become a Member of the NPAB

Only participants on SELECT can be members of the NPAB. Potential candidates are recommended by a staff member at your study site. The staff member submits the application form with the permission of the participant. If you are a participant and would like to be considered for membership, contact your local study site staff. The staff will be able to tell you if there are any openings and share background information on the requirements to be considered for membership on the NPAB.
