I am a sole practicing attorney in Houston, Texas, concentrating in family law and probate. I am married to Judge Bonnie Hellums and we have four children (three boys) and five grandchildren (four boys).
Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, I was an All-American defensive tackle for the Cornhuskers and went on to play professional football with the Houston Oilers until a knee injury curtailed my career. Before becoming an attorney in 2001, I owned and operated various businesses.
My wife and I enjoy traveling in the United States and abroad.

My wife Katherine and I are retired and live in Sammamish, Washington. We have three daughters, one who lives in Seattle, Washington and another in Tacoma, Washington.
We have a young granddaughter and a young grandson who live with their parents in the Seattle area, and a married son who resides in Southeast Alaska.
I have a Bachelors Degree from the University of Montana, a Masters Degree from Eastern Washington University and a Doctorate Degree from Washington State University.
I served on active duty with the 2nd Infantry Division, United States Army for two years and received an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Captain.
Most of my employment was in the area of public education. I am very interested in the fields of nutrition, fitness and recreation.
The accomplishments that I am most proud of are the health and closeness of my family, my forty-seven year marriage to Katherine, climbing to the summit of Mt. Rainier, being listed in a couple of Who's Who and serving as a member of the NPAB.

I am the President and CEO of Cancer Research And Biostatistics (CRAB) and the Director of the Southwest Oncology Group Statistical Center. I am responsible for the statistical and data management activities of SELECT.
I am married to Cay Crowley, Ph.D. and Chief Operating Officer for CRAB. We have two children: Lauren, who will soon finish medical school at the University of Washington; and Patrick, who is directing and writing plays in Washington DC theaters.
Cay and I love to escape to the North Cascades, where we have a condo near Mt Baker.
