Employees Care About Our Community

CRABCares is an employee-led program launched in 2013 to promote staff participation in events that align with the CRAB mission and represents our compassionate culture.

In an effort to increase community engagement, foster team-building, and raise awareness of CRAB and the significant toll of cancer, this committee identifies three to five events per year The CRAB team participates in events and activities ranging from 5k walks/runs and galas to serving lunch to homeless teens.

We are fortunate to be part of a greater community that recognizes the horrible burden of cancer, gives back, pays forward, and is committed to improving the lives of others. Together, we perform an important community service while having fun and enjoying each other's company in the process!

The Big Climb Inspires CRAB Colleagues

March 28, 2017 - Support and camaraderie for lymphoma and leukemia researchers and survivors was on display in Seattle’s Financial District on Sunday, March 26, when members of CRABCares, the public-outreach committee at Cancer Research And Biostatistics, joined cancer survivors, families and friends in the annual Big Climb event at Columbia Tower. The team of CRABBY CLIMBERS scaled the 69 flights of stairs with the larger community of survivors, family and friends in their fifth appearance at this inspirational event.

After the climb, Team Leader Heidi Dong remarked, "I heard about The Big Climb before and always wanted to participate, so I was very happy to have the opportunity thanks to CRAB. It was lovely to share this experience with fellow co-workers. Every participant and volunteer was constantly encouraging others to get to the top. I really appreciate how the company values that workmanship is important, but it’s also equally important to stay healthy and active. I would also like to thank everyone who donated to our team. We have exceeded our original goal of $1,500 by raising $2,280! I will definitely do it again next year! One thousand, three hundred and eleven steps. Let’s go!"
